Dennis, 4yo Pomeranian

About Dennis

Our little boomerang Dennis (formally known as Odie and Ozzy) has been returned to us again after one year. Dennis has made lots of progress in his last home but it seems there’s some hurdles he just cannot cross.

Dennis most tricky behaviour is he finds changes frightening and, as you would see in young child, effectively throws a tantrum when he is overwhelmed. He needs to be cuddled, a lot of the time and this sounds sweet but in reality means that whenever something makes him anxious, and lots of things do, he must immediately be picked up by his chosen human and consoled.

He is very appropriately named in that he is a menace and will guard things given the chance, he has a particular love for socks. He is so much better these days at exchanging stolen items for something tasty and anyone with a bit of patience should manage these negotiations with ease.

When we first met him, strangers were a no-go for Dennis but actually now, as long as they don’t immediately rush in to touch him, he really likes people. He’s frightened of larger dogs initially but mixes well with those his size. He lived with 4 other dogs and 2 cats this past year and enjoyed being part of the gang but would often find things just that wee bit overwhelming and it takes him that wee bit longer than the rest of the house to calm down again.

What kind of home do we need?

He will need an experienced dog owner, someone with plenty patience and a good sense of humour!

Most importantly a garden that is accessed directly from the house. The garden will need to be very secure and you will be subject to a home check to confirm this.

His new owner will need to have experience of owning pets with a high maintenance coat, he needs regularly groomed and he needs muzzled very often to do so!

He will not be rehomed with children; calm, quiet teenagers maybe but not if there’s lots of friends visiting regularly. He’s not going to suit someone with restricted mobility either because he’s a speedy little sausage and will be out under your feet quick as a flash!

If you’re interested in learning more about him please contact us, you will be required to fill in an adoption application form before visiting the kennels. Applications will close once we find a suitable applicant.
