About Hayley.
Hayley’s been here for 3 years and really, it’s a shame, she’s a loving and affection dog with people, she is lead reactive but loves dogs once she “gets over herself”.
Hayley was awful with other dogs on arrival but has had a number of doggy pals over the years with us, she plays beautifully and will share kennels and toys without the slightest complaint. Her lead reactivity is her biggest vice and so we have an external dog trainer coming to take Hayley out and about to help her reactivity and she’s really incredible these days! She really will do anything for a sausage!
She loves human affection, would be cuddled and butt scratched all day. She loves toys and will merrily chase and tug all day if you let her. Hayley does show symptoms of discomfort during period of heavy exercise, although an initial consultation for suspected hip dysplasia she did show signs of discomfort, x-rays at the vets have not show any obvious cause for this pain and so we try to minimise strenuous exercise and she’s given low cost pain relief daily to keep that under control.
What kind of home do we need for Hayley?
Hayley doesn’t need a huge amount of exercise, a brisk walk daily and plenty of garden play would suffice.
Hayley should have a secure garden so she can get off lead exercise however if the garden is adjacent to a busy footpath your neighbours might not be so happy – she loves a good bark at passers by! Hayley has never lived with children, she can get a bit overexcited during play so wee kids wouldn’t suit her. She would adore living with another playful dog!
