Glen is Reserved.
Glen was surrendered from his owners because he was attacking the other dog in the home, a female German Shepherd. His owners had him checked over by a vet, had him neutered, sought behavioural advice and reluctantly concluded that he simply couldn’t live with her anymore.
He was frightened by another dog as a puppy and is therefore quite reactive to new dogs he sees, since he’s been here we’ve introduced him to a female dog and he’s had a great time playing with her. New people can take him a while to come around to, he needs a minute or two to suss them out but with those he loves he has soooooo much love to give.
He loves to play and would play all day with a ball. He is a keen swimmer. He’s a hunter and would give chase to livestock, wildlife and small fluffy pets.
He is crate trained and house trained. He is very strong on the lead and is used to a head collar to walk.
What kind of home do we need for Glen?
Glen will likely need to be the only pet in his new home. An experienced dog owner, confident, no-nonsense but kind too! Teenagers would be fine, especially if they can throw a ball but no primary aged children. He is desperate for exercise, brain training and play; being a Patterdale Terrier x Springer Spaniel Glen has a phenomenal amount of energy!
A garden would be nice as he will not be able to be offlead in busy public parks as he can be reactive to new dogs.
