Skye, 9yo Border Collie

About Skye.

Skye came to us from his owner as she was facing eviction. He’s lived with another three dogs but is reactive to new dogs out and about, particularly males. He’s never been around cats and only has experience of the owners granddaughter who is a teenager.

Skye would bark when his owner left him alone, he settled if other dogs were around but would destroy a crate or kennel if left in the home alone.

His owner has taught him many basic commands, he walks well on lead. He loves to play ball and likes paddling in water and running as fast as he can across fields. He’s a cuddly boy and wants to put his paws around your waist for a hug.

He’s recently had surgery to remove a lump from his flank, fortunately it was just panniculitis and not cancerous.

What kind of home do we need for Skye?

Someone home a lot of the time would suit him, perhaps a recently retired person or home worker.

A garden or more rural setting is also advantageous as he can be reactive to other dogs so off lead exercise has to be carefully managed.
